We are pleased to announce that the 2019 Scholarship program is set to begin.
Academic Scholarship: The scholarship is awarded annually to outstanding High School Seniors. All applicants must be the son, daughter or financial dependent of a Teamster member who qualifies as a member in ‘good standing’ in the Teamsters Union. The student must plan to attend an accredited academic four-year college or university program, be in the top 15% of his/her High School class, and be in his/her last year of High School. Areas that are reviewed by the Scholarship Committee include, but are not limited to the following: Academic Accomplishments, Community Service, Letters of Recommendation (if a Canadian or Puerto Rican applicant, and Financial Need.
Training and Vocational Programs Scholarship: This Scholarship is for students who plan to attend an accredited training or vocational non-baccalaureate program at a community college, or other training institute, within the United States, Puerto Rico or Canada. All applicants must the son, daughter or financial dependent of a Teamster member who qualifies a a member in ‘good standing’ in the Teamsters Union. Training or vocational programs must be in a Teamster represented industry. Areas that are reviewed by the Committee include, but are not limited to the following: Personal Statement, Essay, Letters of Recommendation and Financial Need.
This year, the Board of the Scholarship Fund has decided to have International Scholarship & Tuition Service (ISTS) administer the Scholarships. Please go on the Fund’s website, www.jrhmsf.org to register on-line for the application process and to have the most up to date information about the on-line application.
Application deadline is March 31st, 2019.
The Teamsters Canada Member Scholarship was specifically created for eligible members who wish to continue their education in their current field or expand into a different industry. Our scholarships are meant to help our members afford tuition for post-secondary institutions and certificate programs.
The deadline to apply is October 31st, 2019.
International Brotherhood of Teamsters
This scholarship is for daughters and sons of active or retired Teamster members who have at least twelve months of consecutive membership in good standing.To apply for this scholarship, applicants must submit their SAT/ACT scores and an essay on how unions can motivate youth and women to become involved in the union movement.
